Police arrested a hit and run suspect in connection with a surveillance video showing the driver speeding off after his SUV hit a man while the latter was collecting cans on the road.
The accident occurred at Lockwood and Salinia, in Northeast Houston, last Sunday, June 10, at around 7:30 a.m.
According to authorities, suspect Pablo Moreno was driving around Lockwood when his SUV jumped a road curb and crashed into the victim. The accident was taken by a surveillance camera from a convenience store – which showed Moreno’s vehicle moving along the road just minutes before the accident. Afterwards, footage from the same camera showed a bystander trying to stop traffic and get help for the helpless victim. The latter was then taken to the Ben Taub Hospital for some medical attention. However, he is still under critical condition.
The arrest of Moreno was made at his home, and police say that the charges that could be filed against him, among others, will include failure to stop and render aid.
