The suspect in the fatal car accident that killed well-loved deaf teacher Mark Gobble in South Austin has been identified. He is Jesus Turrullos-Gonzales, a 20 year old man, who has now been charged by the police with failure to stop and render aid, a third degree felony – in connection with the incident that happened over the weekend which claimed the life of Gobble. However, the suspect is still at large.
According to authorities, the accident happened at around 6:38 am, Sunday, when Turrulos-Gonzales lost control of the Toyota pick-up truck that he was driving at West Slaughter Lane, resulting to his truck going out of the roadway and hitting Gooble as he was jogging in the sidewalk.
Turrulos-Gonzales, instead of helping the victim, fled the scene and went into hiding. And although Gobble was brought to the Brackenridge Hospital, he was eventually pronounced dead. Gobble’s death is the 36th fatal traffic victim of Austin for the year.
