Austin, Texas – an Austin Bicycle Accident which occurred at loop 360, Saturday, has caused some biking groups to express their concerns with regards the safety of their members.
According to reports, Verter Ginestra, a 54 year old man and an Austin resident, was riding his bicycle at around 2:30 pm when a car suddenly fatally hit him. The driver of the car was Maurice Widener, an 85 year old man.
Moreover, reports have shown that Ginestra was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, it was not enough to prevent his death. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Because of this accident, many cycling groups are now calling on authorities and officials to provide educate motorists and to impose stiffer punishment for those who are found guilty of injuring bikers.
Presently, no charges have been filed in connection with the accident.
